Today me and Farhath went on the hunt for more locations to shoot our opening sequence. As we're having a bit of trouble finding houses to borrow for the day, we thought we'd take a quick gander around and about the college to see if any rooms hosted some potential. And alas! One room did and we asked the kind people inside if we could take a few snap shots of the area. Thankfully they were nice enough to let us in while they was working.
Another shot here of the sink area but from a different angle. I love this angle as to me it seems very realistic. The view through the windows gives off the homely feel with green grass and trees as if it was a large garden. Obviously we'll have to bring in a few extra props to give it the correct mis-en-scene such as extra mugs, perhaps a cooking book or two, cutlery, kettle and a cute plant...maybe.
Here is a wider shot of the sink/kitchen area, which I've only now spotted a kettle! (Scrap the plan of bringing in my own.) But as I was saying, here is a wider shot of the sink are so I can get a nice feel for where to place Charles and how things will flow. I also think this looks rather convincing as a one person apartment/flat.
After taking our snaps of the Creative Arts room we then thought about a lounge area, or living room (whichever you prefer to call it) so upon leaving the previous room we immediately saw this little set up and thought "Bingo!" It was perfect. The sofas are modern and somewhat stylish, accompanied by a few coffee tables and rugs. With the correct framing this will look like any old sitting room set up!
Some more shots here of the furniture, I also forgot to mention and also capture, but there is a flat screen television hooked up onto the wall above the leather sofa, another great mis-en-scene implement.
Lastly, another medium shot of the small 'lounge-esque' setting. We think, if we can't get an actual home that these locations would suffice quite alright. We've gone ahead and asked for permission already and everything is on a green light! We just need a few more things to tweak regarding dates and times, but other then that, bring on the filming!
